<From The Wall, Saturday, March 15, 2008 >
anonomys, hurled all romance books against The Wall.
The reasons were:
I don't know what's going on but I've managed to find 1 good book out of about 5. All the same stories, same stupid heroines, same, same, same.

Amy added:
Try anything from Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter or Dream Hunter series. There more paranormal with a romantic twist to them, the heroines actually have a brain.

Sarah added:
Try anything by Sophie Kinsella, her books are fun and fresh and lean more towards women's fiction than romance. Meg Cabot is also good but can be hit or miss.

I hear you! It's gotten to be so bad, that I've taken to reading books that I read years ago. I'm tired of spending my money on 'Romance' novels only to be disappointed. Since all of my favorite authors are now writing contemporary mysteries or have become dull, I try giving newer authors a chance, but that hasn't helped either.

CD added:
Since all romance has the same storyline, I can't recommend something unique in that area; but try reading the SLAVE by Cheryl Brooks. You may enjoy this book since if more scifi and the characters aren't your everyday hero and heroine found a drawing room in London.

bizou added:
Please try Meljean Brook's Demon Moon. It's a great novel, with an amazing world-building,a beautiful heart wrenching romance...

Trixee added:
Have you tried THE SPYMASTER'S LADY bu Joanna Bourne? I know the title sucks and, frankly, so does the cover, but if you want to read a different story with a very competent heroine you may want to give it a try. BTW what are you reading? Historicals? Contemps?

Sarah added:
For an unusual herione try "Flowers from the Storm" by Laura Kinsale. It's a great story with an interesting story line. "The Shadow and the Star", by Laura Kinsale, is also great but has a more conventional story line. Also, "Uncertain Magic", by the same author.

Violet added:
I hear you my friend! But I keep hoping. You know the old joke. To surmise: A kid walks into a room and it's completely full of sh*t. But the kid isn't upset. Instead, the kid starts looking around and digging excitely. People ask, "Kid, what are you doing?" And the kid says, "With this much sh*t, there must be a pony!" So, I keep checking The Pedestal. Maybe I'll find a pony there.
