<From The Wall, Wednesday, March 4, 2009 >
ljj, hurled First Comes Marriage by Mary Balogh against The Wall.
The reasons were:
This book was boring. The characters were dull. The hero kept talking about how ugly the heroine was. The first love scene must of been written when the author had a bad head cold. All she wanted to do was get it over with so she could go take a nap. Ugh

Just one word for this book...BO-RING.

DiForBooks added:
Mary Balogh is my favorite Regency author, I don't think there's anyone better, but you'd be hard-pressed to find this book or the character interesting. I was very disappointed.

Violet added:
I have always liked Mary Balogh's books. They may start off slow, but they build up as they go. There's a depth to her characters that most other authors can't (or can't be bothered to) convey. I was intrigued enough by this book that I want to read about the rest of the Huxtable family. But I am concerned that publishing so frequently (one book a month for four months) will ultimately reveal shoddy plotting and characterization--and poorly written love scenes.
